The Legacy of RAAVANA-1 Our journey began with the landmark RAAVANA-1 mission, Sri Lanka’s first successful entry into the global space age. This 1U CubeSat, developed in collaboration with the Kyushu Institute of Technology and JAXA, successfully orbited the Earth for over two years, completing five critical research missions. By capturing high-resolution imagery of the Sri Lankan coastline and testing advanced magnetic torquers for stabilization, RAAVANA-1 proved that Sri Lankan engineers possess the technical prowess to operate in the harshest environments of Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
