Yes, while commercial space tours are becoming more common, there are several restrictions and requirements in place, primarily concerning health, age, height/weight, and training.

General Space Tour Cancellation Policies

  • Non-Refundable Deposits: A large initial deposit (often hundreds of thousands of dollars) is usually required to secure a seat, and this deposit is frequently non-refundable.

  • High Cancellation Fees: If a customer cancels their trip after making full payment, they face extremely high cancellation fees, which can often be $100,000 or more, depending on the timing of the cancellation relative to the launch date.

  • Transferability: Some companies may allow you to transfer your reservation to another person (if they meet all medical and training requirements), but this usually incurs a significant administrative fee.

  • Company Cancellation (Weather/Technical): If the space tourism company cancels the flight due to technical failure, weather, or regulatory issues:

    • They typically offer a full refund of the ticket price.

    • Alternatively, they may offer a guaranteed seat on the next available launch date.
