Global astronomy month

Join the world’s largest celebration of astronomy with RAAVANA during “Global Astronomy Month” (GAM). Throughout the entire month of April, we connect with thousands of skywatchers across the globe under the motto “One People, One Sky.” This event is dedicated to sharing the wonders of the universe with everyone, regardless of their location or background. At RAAVANA, we host a series of workshops, star parties, and online lectures designed to inspire a new generation to look up and wonder about the cosmos.

Our GAM 2026 schedule is packed with diverse activities, including “Sun Day” solar observations, deep-sky marathons, and astrophotography contests. We provide resources for local schools and communities in Sri Lanka to set up their own viewing stations. By participating in Global Astronomy Month, you become part of a worldwide community of explorers, contributing to citizen science projects and gaining a deeper appreciation for our place in the universe.
